Not to belitte anyone else’s addiction, but this is a serious problem for me.<\/p>\n
And it’s become virtually impossible to control, because I am not sure if you’ve noticed, but right now chocolate is EVERYWHERE!! It’s in Holiday gift boxes sent to my office, from well-meaning friends bringing over hostess gifts and perhaps most importantly and most surprisingly in EVERY SINGLE DRUG STORE AISLE IN THE FORM OF VALENTINE’S GIFTS.<\/p>\n
What did I miss?<\/p>\n
Since when does Valentine’s Day start on January 4th?<\/p>\n
Hello. We should at least have a 2-week grace period until January 15th. Right?<\/p>\n
I know retailer’s are hard up…but trust me there is just not that much love to celebrate.
\n<\/p>\n
And if you really do care about someone would you really get them a box of chocolate that’s going to sit around for a least a month…or really six weeks if you buy it now?<\/p>\n
Didn’t think so.<\/p>\n
Note to my husband: don’t even think about it! A fat-free, calorie spa certificate will fit the bill quite nicely, thanks.<\/em><\/p>\n So this means there is\u00a0no way the retailers are going to sell all that candy and then there will be even more temptation at the end of February\/March as they try and get rid of it all (and start torturing us with way too early Easter bunnies).<\/p>\n What’s a girl to do?<\/p>\n Seriously, what is a girl to do?<\/p>\n Many of you that know that I’ve been following\u00a0a pretty strict Jenny Craig and exercise regime since September (which I am happy to say has been producing positive results).<\/p>\n But this omnipresent chocolate is really just too much for me.<\/p>\n I need some advice.<\/p>\n Do I 1) give in to the occasional temptation or 2) go cold turkey. Basically blinding myself to all the tempations until I reach my goal. This latter strategy may literally need to involve a temporary blinding (like those eye drops they give you at the doctor’s when they check for glaucoma or whatever it is).<\/p>\n Any suggestions? Are tempations worse when we ignore them or worse when we give in to them?<\/p>\n I’d love to hear your thoughts.<\/p>\n That’s my point of view.
