{"id":3362,"date":"2011-12-09T18:54:37","date_gmt":"2011-12-09T18:54:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/herculiz.com\/dev\/?p=3362"},"modified":"2018-10-18T20:14:18","modified_gmt":"2018-10-18T20:14:18","slug":"bathroom-branding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brandtwist.com\/blog\/brand-culture\/bathroom-branding\/","title":{"rendered":"Bathroom Branding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/brandtwist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/toilet1-300x168.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3363 aligncenter\" alt=\"toilet1-300x168\" src=\"http:\/\/brandtwist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/toilet1-300x168.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lately, I&#8217;ve been noticing some pretty creative use of a space that&#8217;s been traditionally taboo.<\/p>\n<p>The potty, loo, john etc.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, the Bathroom seems to have become the new frontier in brand messaging.<\/p>\n<p>This is a picture of the Virgin Management HQ in London.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a bit hard to read&#8230;but the sign over the toilet paper roll says &#8220;this is the only unauthorized\u00a0Virgin rip-off, now go wash your hands&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>I think this is brilliant&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It uses a frequently visited space to reinforce Virgin&#8217;s commitment to being the consumer champion.<\/p>\n<p>Recently I was in the NY offices of<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.whatifinnovation.com\"><strong>?Whatif!<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>the innovation company well-known for it&#8217;s incredibly strong company culture.<\/p>\n<p>They are also using the bathrooms&#8230;to post &#8220;10 Interesting Facts&#8221; about new employees. And true to ?Whatif! fashion the fact sheets are cleverly written and insightful.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s most important is that they underline the company&#8217;s commitment to celebrating the strength and diversity of it&#8217;s people.<\/p>\n<p>What I haven&#8217;t seen is any brands using Bathroom Branding as an touch point to external audiences.<\/p>\n<p>It seems odd to me that brands like Ikea and Starbucks who are so good at using their physical environments to communicate their brand message are ignoring this touchpoint.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe they can&#8217;t get over the taboo of the toilet&#8230;but I think they should try.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s my point of view.
