I was up at Cornell recently guest lecturing in an integrated marketing class.

I had a bit of time in the morning and decided to take a stroll in the unseasonably warm weather and record the random things I saw with my new Flip Cam.

Here’s a sampling:

The view from my room at the Statler Hotel. Made me want to go back to college.

This vending truck was the strangest thing I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t figure out what they were selling, and I find the noose creepy and offensive.

I love this newspaper. At first I thought is was something to do with HIV, but it’s just good news about the world (and I think the planet).

It took me a while to realize these were all bands…at least I think they are.

I heard of milking students for tuition, but this is taking it a little too far.

I saw this T-shirt in the gift shop. Nice to see the students in the Hotel School showing a little “Ithaca humor.”

And lastly here’s me right in front of my lecture hall being mistaken for a Co-ed…. (NOT!).

It’s amazing all the interesting random things you can find when you decide to actively observe.

That’s my point of view. What’s your twist?
How do you record your daily musings?

  1. Hi Julie! I love that you wrote “actively observe” – it definitely takes effort! For me, it means no blackberry or ipod when I’m walking down the street, on the subway, at the airport…etc… but I do actively observe often, and am also amazed by what I see. To capture my observations, I carry a camera with me at all times, try to keep a small notebook around for any ideas or observations that can’t be captured with a camera (i see tons of cool stuff on the subway and don’t want to scare people by taking a picture). I also keep printed inspiration from magazines, etc. in a scrapbook – I’m sort of old school that way.
