Two of my favorites are Push by Sapphire (made into the movie Precious) and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Both deal with very difficult subjects (ex. rape, incest, the Holocaust) but the language in each is so beautiful and so poetic that in some ways they both restored my faith in the human race.
Would love to hear your suggestions.
ooh – I was going to do my top ten of the year over at my humble blog…
I have to admit to LOVING ‘The 4 Hour Work Week’ by Tim Ferris.
I re-read ‘Triple Bottom Line’
A bunch of “you’re going to be a dad OMG don’t panic!” books
Cryptonimicon by Neal Stephenson
EDGE by David J Rodger (UK’s newest, hottest voice in cyberfiction”
Just started the Ultimate History of Video Games by Steven L Kent.
